In this week’s Podcast from Washington, Government Affairs team members Ian Goldstein and Eli Briggs discuss NACCHO’s Leadership Week and how you can participate in NACCHO’s Virtual Hill Day to advocate for public health programs. They also discuss the local health department response to COVID-19 and how NACCHO is reporting back to Congress and the Administration about local health department activities.

Later in the program, Ian sits down with Dr. Jennifer Carroll, Assistant Professor of Anthropology at Elon University to discuss her new book Narkomania, which considers if a person is predisposed to substance use disorders. They also discuss her background in substance use, harm reduction, and overdose prevention.
